Belmont Democratic Caucus

April 17 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Belmont Caucus to Elect Delegates for the Mass Democratic Convention

Select Board Room, Town Hall

Doors open at 6 PM, Caucus begins at 7 PM. You must be in line before 7 if you wish to be nominated as a delegate. Any registered democrat may be nominated–you do not have to be a member of the Belmont Democratic Town Committee.

You can check your registration status, register or pre-register to vote, or change your party affiliation here

This year’s Convention, which will be September 13 in Springfield, is a Platform Convention, which provides delegates from across the state a unique opportunity to decide and discuss the party’s platform.

For more information about what it means to be a delegate, how to run for the position, as well as information about the Convention, please visit our FAQ page. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

If you are considering running as a delegate, kindly fill out the delegate questionnaire before the caucus—it helps the caucus run more efficiently.

Delegate/Alternate/Ex Officio Questionnaire Delegates (including any ex officio delegates in attendance) and alternates may complete their certification form in its entirety. The demographic information requested on this form helps the state party ensure our delegation represents the diversity of the Commonwealth. Additionally, delegates and alternates who complete their certification form will begin receiving email updates from the state party as soon as possible. This is the form that we need all of the elected delegates to fill out

Registration Fee Payment Form

Delegates and alternates both pay a $75 fee to take part in the Convention, which helps the state party defray the substantial cost. The deadline to complete the registration fee is September 3, 2025, after which payments will be subject to a $15 late fee. A reduced fee of $50 is available for students, seniors (age 65 and up), and persons with disabilities.

NOTE: The Belmont Democratic Town Committee is committed to financially contributing to anyone who needs financial help to attend the Caucus.

Fee Waiver If attending the convention presents a financial hardship, delegates and alternates may apply for a partial or full fee waiver. Party staff will communicate directly with those who request waivers and respect the privacy of those seeking assistance.

Add-on Delegate Application The state party strives to ensure delegate representation that reflects the whole community, and has a number of add-on delegate seats, chosen by the Democratic State Committee, in the following categories: Disabled, Underrepresented Racial and Ethnic Groups, Veteran, Youth (16 to 35 years old), and LGBTQ+. Add-on applications are due to the state party by 5 PM on May 23, 2025  and will be chosen by the Democratic State Committee at their Spring 2025 DSC meeting in June.

NOTE: If you don’t get elected as a delegate during the caucus, you can apply for an add-on position.
