Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings, and participate in discussions, regardless of membership.
Our goal is for all members and guests to be politically engaged. During election seasons, we participate in extensive volunteer efforts, like phone banking, canvassing, fundraising, postcard writing. At other times, we encourage members to stay active, making calls to our reps to make our voices heard, support candidates in special elections throughout the country, attend meetings, and other political events.
Per our bylaws, we have 35 full members and an unlimited number of associate members.
Typically, full members begin as associate members, though it is not a requirement. If you are interested in becoming either a full or associate member, the process is simple. If there is an opening for a full member (we do have turnover and there are some positions available now), we send notice to our full members and ask for a quorum to nominate and vote at an upcoming meeting. You introduce yourself, talk about your efforts on behalf of democrats, and full members vote.
If you wish to be considered please contact us and we will send notice to our full members and ask for a quorum to nominate and vote at an upcoming meeting.
There are two membership levels: full and associate, both of which require someone to be nominated and voted by a quorum of full members. You must be a registered democrat to serve as either a full or associate member.
Only full member have voting rights, which are:
Voting for other members
Voting to endorse (ex: we were the first DTC in the state to endorse Senator Markey before his last election)
Voting to endorse statements (ex: we’ve written letters to our reps about Gaza, and most recently, concerns and actions regarding the Trump administration)
Voting for our budget, including expenditures (ex: we might ask for funds to rent space for a large meeting, or to send money to candidates).
Associate members participate fully in our discussions and are often as active as are full members. The only difference is associate members do not vote in other members, vote for the budget or endorsements.
Full members pay $45/year and associates $15/year.
