Martin Luther King Community Breakfast

Guest speaker: The Honorable Sonia Chang-Diaz, State Senator, Boston

DATE: Monday, January 20, 2014
LOCATION: Belmont High School Cafeteria, 221 Concord Ave., Belmont
TIME: Registration at 8:30 am, breakfast at 8:45. Program 9:00 to 11:00 am.
ADMISSION: $5 per person $10 per family


A continental breakfast will be provided. Registration in advance is encouraged, but not required. Payment is made at the door.

In addition to the Belmont Human Rights Commission and Belmont Against Racism, sponsors or conveners include, among others, the Belmont Religious Council, the Belmont School Department, Belmont High School, the Belmont High School Belmontian Community Service Club, the Belmont High School METCO program, Belmont Disability Commission, Vision 21, Belmont High School and Chenery Middle School PTO’s, the League of Women Voters and Belmont Special Education Advisory Commission. The event receives support from many local businesses and individuals.

Children of all ages are welcome. Mr. Dick Samaria (Mr. S.) volunteers to provide supervised activities for children 6 to 11; childcare for under 5 is provided by community service volunteers from Belmont High School’s Belmontian Club. Music will be provided by Belmont High School students, including the Belmont High School Jazz Combo and Tri-M Music Honor Society. This event will have sign language interpreters.

All proceeds of the breakfast benefit Belmont Against Racism’s Belmont Schools’ METCO Support Fund, which provides after-school transportation funds and other financial support to ensure that Boston students at all Belmont schools can fully participate in after-school activities.
