Drew Grande, a Sierra Club organizer who worked with us on the Elizabeth Warren campaign, has invited us to join the Sierra Club in marching in this year’s Peace Parade.  This event was started 3 years ago by the Veterans for Peace in response to being denied permission to march in the “official” South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade.

In their first parade in 2011, the organizers had about 500 marchers; last year they had 2,000; and this year they expect even more. There are several divisions marching in the parade, as well as bands and bagpipers. The divisions are: veterans groups; peace groups; LGBT groups; religious groups (including congregations); environmental groups (Climate Justice); social and economic justice groups; labor groups; and political groups.

There is a lot of information on the web about the different groups participating – click here for the website of the Veterans for Peace.  If you wish to participate, please contact Drew at drew.grande@sierraclub.org
